Volume 164: Rest in Phoebe

We landed at 11 AM and were picked up to head to camp. All the other kids would come with leaders after 6 PM.

But Phoebe? She spent the day with me and Tanner as we prepped the site and made sure everything was ready to go! Walking the site. Stapling papers. Carrying boxes. Meeting with the leaders.

When the other leaders arrived later that afternoon, they asked her how her day had been, and she responded with such genuine joy, "It's been awesome! My brother would love it here!"

Whatttttt! We literally have not done one activity and she's just been forced to follow us around...

Then, she was asked, "what are your hopes for this weekend?"

She quickly answered, "I'm excited for S'mores!"

Well that's easy!!

At the end of the weekend, as we were were taking her back to the airport, we asked about her experience and she only reported positive things:

"At first I was worried we had four hours of free time, but then we ended up having a lot of time to shower after the color war so that was really nice that we weren't rushed! And then we got ice cream and played signs the whole time. It was so much fun!"

"It was so good to have a smaller group of high school girls because we had really great conversations in small group and were able to ask each other questions and get to know one another better!"

"I loved the camp site! It was so beautiful!"

Meanwhile.... I had been so stressed all week about her arriving so early, only having 4 High School girls in her cabin, and not many activities at the camp...

So here's to Phoebe!

For setting a great example for me - to find the good! To be positive!
