Volume 121: Rest in Puzzle

Over break, Debbie set out a puzzle for me, saying "I put a small puzzle on the table if you're interested in working on it!"

Intrigued, I sat down at the table and opened the small circular box.

I immediately noticed that this was unlike any puzzle I have ever done - the pieces were all so different, uniquely shaped. At first glance, it looked impossible... There was no way that those pieces could ever fit together to create an image...

So, I closed the box, slid it across the table, and grabbed my book...

After lunch, with Debbie's company, we began to look through the pieces. Both of us doubted that we would even know where to start.

Until...

I found the egg.

Debbie found the blue flower.

We focused on one part, one section that seemed possible. And we started there. As we finished the egg and blue flower, we both found our next right thing - the nest and the corner green leaves.

And then we were on a roll... finding incredible satisfaction every time two pieces fit together.

Forty five minutes after Debbies' self given stopping time, we finished the puzzle.

We were so proud. For what felt impossible at first, came together. By focusing on the next right thing, we were able to succeed.

In the moments when our lives feel chaotic or future seems unclear, sometimes all we need is to focus on the egg or blue flowers... May we know that it will soon come together to create something beautiful!

Be patient.

Trust God.

We are the canvas; He is the artist.

Lunch with EMcD - my favorite teacher from high school!

In some recent job applications, I answered questions about my testimony (shoutout to Christian schools). As I think about testimonies, I recall back to our Younglife team sharing them weekly with one another. And college friends often going deeper, asking about my story.

Even today, at 28 years old, when I hear the word "testimony," my mind goes straight back to only high school, how my journey began.

Yet these past 10 years have been extremely formative for me and my relationship with Christ.

Four cities.
New friends.
Long term cultivation of relationships.
Different churches.
Deeper disciplines.
Greater understanding of Scripture.

Living out true dependence on God, coming to know and see first hand that He is all I need and He always provides.

God has been focusing on His section of the puzzle, and boy it's coming together to create something beautiful! I am grateful!

Our story never ends. God is always working and moving! May I rest and surrender every season of my life to Him, always trusting His greater plan!
