Volume 113: Rest in Perfect Sabbath Week

Paul David Tripp wrote, "We worship and serve a God who knows our limits, and because he does, he has called us to a Sabbath of rest.... It welcomes us to step away from our labors and remember who we are and who he is, so that in submission and rest we may once again find life and strength in him."

I read this last Saturday, the start of my week in Arkansas, and little did I know that I would soon experience this first hand all week.

The past month has been a bit of a whirlwind in the mind of Morgan, but this week has re-grounded me, helping me to reset my gaze back to my perfect Heavenly Father.

The quiet. No extra noise. No distractions. A quiet that you can take a deep breath in and feel at rest.

The slow pace. Never in a rush. The work day ends and you linger, just talking.

The nature. The bare trees allowing you to see a long distance. The mountains. The leaves on the ground.

The life-giving activities. Spending time with great people, laughing and fully present.

Attending the Mt. Ida basketball game, immersed in the small town community.

Sitting around a table painting pictures of Yellerton and Ty.

Hiking a trail that ended up being a steady incline for quite a while.

Hanging out in the living room at Country Lane, eating Rafa's chilaquiles and playing Secret Hitler.

Participating in the Ozone Winter Olympics, with a group of kids that love Ozone.

Taking a morning walk with Debbie and Bruce, with crisp air and real conversation.

Eating dinner around a bonfire, attempting to control Alex and Hannah Rose.

Playing the most random games at Alana's Banana themed game night.

Throwing balls into the over full waterfront to see if they disappeared.

Standing by the river, listening to the peaceful streaming sound.

Meeting people from around the world through International Interviews.

Celebrating Catalina's birthday in the Office with everyone at 2 PM break.

    Sleeping for 13 hours...

Journaling up at the cross, looking out at the beautiful view.

A simple, low key week full of laughter and rest.

Sabbath.

Refreshing. Peaceful. Beautiful.

Exactly what I needed. What a gift.

May our life continue to be filled with moments of rest. Moments of recognizing our boundaries of time and physical limits, and trusting that God will provide and is the giver of everything we need.

A prayer shared by Debbie - written by Christine Caine:

"I pray you flourish as one who is rooted and resilient in Jesus's name.
I pray you flourish in humility.
I pray God would use you to powerfully bring His peace everywhere you go.
I pray you flourish in the place of pressing.
I pray you flourish in God's happiness.
I pray you flourish in producing much fruit."
