Volume 99: Rest in Morgan's Brain
I know what you are thinking... "rest in Morgan's brain??????" There's no way that's restful!!!!
And you know, while my brain is typically always racing, there are moments of lightbulbs and processing and observing and learning! Over the past two weeks, here's some things I've pondered on:
SONG OF THE MONTH: Up To Something by One House and Upperroom
In the middle you're still God.
You know better than I do
I will put my trust in you.
I will lean not on my own understanding
When you are the one who has always guiding my way
Though I don't see it I know that you're working
I know you're up to something.
If you're the God who parted the waters,
If you're the God who walked on the sea,
If you're the God who stood in the fire,
What can't you do for me?
If you're the God who cleanses the leper
If you're the God who makes the blind see
If you're the God who raises the dead
What can't you do for me?
What can't you do for me?"
MOVIE OF THE MONTH: The Wild Robot
I mean... WOW!!!!! I have now seen this movie two times in theaters... Yes, I have paid money to see a kids, animated, DreamWorks movie in theaters two times... Why brag about such a thing? Well, you need to see it for yourself!!!
It's a beautiful movie - one that pulls on your heart strings in the best kind of way. One of removing division, inclusion of the outcast, and love overcoming hate.
At Metro on Tuesday, the speaker used a great analogy.. He has two young kids and anytime they get in the car to drive, they start asking so many questions...
"Can we watch a show?"
"Are we there yet?"
"Can I have a snack?"
"Are we there yet?"
And as a parent, you eventually get frustrated and says something along the lines of, "Stop asking!!!"
Yet, God WANTS us to keep asking Him over and over again. He never tires of our asking things of Him. So may we not let up on asking Him! And as we ask Him, we are met with the reminder that we are completely dependent on Him.
BUILD LIFE ON ROCK
As we build our foundation on the Rock, we remember that God is with us and He has a plan for us. It can be like watching a sports game that you already know the final score of...
If I already know that Georgia is going to beat Mississippi State 41 to 31, then as I watch the game, I wouldn't get stressed when Carson Beck throws an interception... Or when our defense keeps allowing points... Or when Robinson gets hurt... Instead, since I already know how it turns out, I do not have to worry when things seem that they are not going well.
May I live with that same sense of security and lack of worry in my every day life. Knowing that no matter what comes my way, I can remain confident in the ending. That I will one day be in Heaven with Jesus! That all my obstacles here in on earth are only temporary.
WE ARE WITNESSES TO JESUS
I was thankful for Pastor Eric's sermon on being a witness. That as witnesses, we convey the truth of the reality of Jesus to the outside world, having the opportunity to make the teaching of the Savior seem attractive to others.
And I think this is so important for us right now - in this broken world we live in.
I also read a quote, "We inspect the fruit because we can't see the root." We often live as if we can justify our sinful actions, but in reality, this world judges Christians on their words, interactions, and responses. So may we understand the importance of our witness and not live lives of hypocrisy! May we constantly fill ourselves up with God's Word and love and truth so that it will overflow out of us!
