"Is everything that we do pointing back to the beauty and worth of Christ? Because we are not going to sell them on duty and obligation... they probably won't stay. But if we sell them on how worthy Christ is and how worthy of our time He is, and we point them back there... and that He is the very well they can draw from. That is the key... more than anything motivationally we can say or more than anything we can give."
POINTING BACK TO THE BEAUTY AND WORTH OF CHRIST!
What an important reminder! As I go on about life each and every day, I tend to not give enough attention to God's beauty, nor how worthy He is of my praise...
I can become immune to His provision and work that surrounds me.
That's why when something gets hard or I don't get what I want, I tend to shut down. Rather than focusing on what truly matters and giving thanks and praise.
May I be more quick to point back to His beauty and worth so that I can lead by example to all of our staff and campers at camp!
While I may be slower to point others back to Christ, I am thankful to work at a place like Camp Ozark alongside some people with a lot of wisdom and experience.
We've been reading through the book of Proverbs, and read "whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm."
Well, day in and day out, we walk alongside one another in the work that we do - the ups and the downs. The tears and the laughter. The weakness and the growth. Working together for over 15 hours a day... for four straight months.
And luckily, I love the people I get to work with! I am thankful for the way they know me and allow me to be myself. I am extra grateful for the way they teach me and help me to grow.
I recently read the book, "The Power of Positive Leadership," and throughout the whole book, I was encouraged that I see all of the leadership attributes lived out through the people at Ozark... pursuing excellence, leading with purpose, having grit, building strong and connected teams, etc.
Through witnessing the wisdom of great leaders like Debbie, Scott, Patrick, Ali and so many others, I have seen a lot of growth in my own mindset and leadership abilities.
To empower others like Debbie!
To problem solve like Scott!
To clearly communicate like Patrick!
To encourage with positivity like Ali!
The list could go on and on of strong leadership characteristics modeled at camp.
And they do it all, with God first. Knowing that yes, God provides, but we are also held responsible to do everything that we are able to do on our part.
"Everyone has a mission statement, but only the great organizations also have people who are on a mission."
I am thankful to walk with the wise daily! That I may also become more wise and focus on Christ! So in return, I may point others to Him!
