Volume 85: Rest in Psalm God Shots
This week, we've read multiple Psalms with a theme of the direction of our gaze.
Psalm 121 - I lift my eyes up to the Lord...
Psalm 8 - When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him and the son of man that you care for him?
Psalm 73 - Asaph's eyes are on himself and others
Psalm 77 - Asaph's eyes are on himself and his struggles
Psalm 78- Israel's eyes are on their idols.
Tara-Leigh Cobble stated, "may we take our eyes off of our problems, off of ourselves, and off our desires and FIX THEM ON HIM."
Amen! My word of 2024 is FOCUS. And I have been thankful for the reminder to direct my gaze to God - not myself or others in comparison.
May my ultimate focus remain on Jesus this summer as I attempt to model His leadership and love for all.
Rather than my tasks, perfection, ability, successes, may I focus on God and God alone.
It's not possible to be both stressed and grateful.
May I choose gratitude!!!
Psalm 84 - Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere.
FORETASTE.
Sometimes it's hard to fully grasp God's goodness.
We think weddings and birthdays and sporting events and parties are joy. But in comparison to God, they don't even come close to joy found in Him.
May I remember that being in God's presence is more than I could ever dream of. And may that lead me to long for heaven - and feel the urgency of the gospel more powerfully, changing my words and my actions.
