Volume 57: Rest in Remembering

On my drive back to Chattanooga after a week on the road, I saw the blue flashing lights on the side of the road ahead of me (don't worry, this is not going where you think it is...). As I approached the cop, the car that he had pulled over began to drive back onto the road. At first the car stayed in the right lane and drove the speed limit. And then, the car was no where to be found.

From pulled over, nervously receiving a ticket. To then speeding once again.

Isn't it sad how quickly we can just forget and return back to our old ways?

After witnessing this, I began to think about the last two weekends and weeks. They have been full, all of things that I enjoy. The kind of weekends where I couldn't do anything but give thanks.

Gratitude for a refreshing weekend with the Kinnebrews at the magical place of Disney.

Gratitude for a weekend of celebrating the Thayers, surrounded by people I love a lot.

Gratitude for time in Athens and Auburn, seeing staff and hometown friends.

In these moments, I don't question the Lord's faithfulness, feel lonely, or question God's plan. But, as soon as I am past them, my mind is quick to return to negative thoughts and doubts and fears.

No matter how many moments of God's provision stored up in my brain, written in my journals or experienced in real time, the enemy is still able to make me forget. How frustrating that must be to God! His endless patience amazes me, that's for sure!
