Volume 50: Rest in Litany of Rest

Instead of reading Morgan's stream of consciousness today on the Sabbath, may you read the Litany of Rest. This litany has been featured in unpluggers before, but I have been clinging to it recently, especially with the beginning of a new season.

And then after reading the litany, may you listen to Pat Barrett's song, Better Hands and find rest in the lyrics!

Gospel Study Reflection: John was bringing some GOOD TRUTH in the chapters that we read this week - there were many times where I had to stop and attempt to really understand the depth of what was written.

But the passage that has stuck out to me the most was in John 12, verses 27 and 28:

"Now is my soul troubled and what shall I say?

'Father, save me from this hour?'

But for this purpose, I have come to this hour.

Father, glorify your name."

What a beautiful look into Jesus's heart. It challenges me to think about how often I pray "Father, save me from this hour." instead of "Father, glorify your name."

May I become more like Jesus in the way He doesn't try to pretend that He isn't troubled, but He responds with humility and a heart postured towards trusting God's plan.

And may I abide in His love, as he instructs us to do in John 15. What a gift it is to even have the opportunity to abide in His love and be loved by Him! A great, never-ending, grace-giving love!

Okay... here's a QUICK Morgan stream of consciousness in addition to the litany! On Wednesday, I boarded my flight at 4:49 AM OOOOFFFF!! So of course, I slept for the first part of the flight, but then when I woke up, I looked out the window and saw the sun rising.

Here's the thing - if you were to look back in my journals, you would see multiple entries about seeing the sun set or rise while on an airplane. There is always something about realizing how small we are that quickly makes me stop and reflect on God's vastness and the beauty of His creation.

But this time specifically, I thought about two of my unpluggers, Merry Grace and Elliott!

Why them?

Well, there I was, looking out the window, in awe of how BIG our God is. And then I thought.... even while He is in control of everything that I see right now, He is also intricately knitting together a BABY in Merry Grace and Elliott right at that same moment!

If I ever allow myself to fully think about all that God does, I quickly get overwhelmed...

But today, I find rest in the fact that God cares for each one of us, individually, just as much as He does the world and everything in it.

An incomprehensible love!

May we abide in it! And find rest in it!
