Volume 4: Rest in "It Will All Get Done!"

Moment of Rest this Week:

On Saturday, the dawgs were playing and I realized I didn't have access to the game, then Dad called me inviting me to the cabin because Matthew and Celia were there. I hadn't seen my brother since before April, so I was excited for the chance to! The moment pictured above is my Dad reading parts of his memoir to us, and it was a very sweet moment that I will always treasure. A moment of no agenda or work giving us the opportunity to laugh at memories and give thanks for all the ways we have been blessed.

Ever been stuck in the line of cars behind a bus? (Sorry, if I was the one driving the bus...) For something that typically makes me antsy, on Saturday, I was thankful to be forced to slow down. I was in no rush to get to my destination and simply just embraced the slow speed. I rolled down my windows, looked at the beautiful surroundings, and was in awe of God's beautiful creation. If you're feeling crazy this week, drive behind a slow car and DON'T pass them!

On Friday morning, I noticed that Haley had texted in the recruiter group message at 6 AM my time, which meant 5 AM her time, so I thought surely this will not be about work... Turns out, she was telling us that she was on the way to the hospital to give birth! Despite Friday having been her scheduled last day of work, after a lot of anticipation and preparation, the day had finally come!

Of course I was so happy for Haley and Connor to start their family and for Ann Clark to come into this world! But truth be told, it also was a little scary... it was the day that Status Letters were supposed to be sent out. Not quite the first Sharpspring email you want to be sending...

Not only were we going to send them out, we also decided to rewrite them... One could say I was a little overwhelmed...

But you know who wasn't burdened with the tasks at hand... my leader.

Despite having a very important appointment at 11 (getting her hair done DUH), meeting a potential new dog owner for Mowgli, picking up Bailey, hosting a household of college kids, and attending a rehearsal dinner ALL on this one day, Debbie had a sense of joy and confidence about her.

It was obvious that she had woken up this day with a mindset that it was going to be a good day, no matter what came her way.

On a day that typically may have felt daunting for work, Debbie was focused on the more important things: her family and friends that were present in front of her.

As she stood there talking to me (with her hair looking GOOD) she told me, "I'm not worried, it will all get done!" She said this with such confidence that I even had to call Ali afterwards and tell her that maybe Debbie was a little tooooo trusting of our capabilities...

Yet, guess what?

Those status letters got sent out. Were they all perfect? Who knows!

What is more important than any thing related to work is how, as I look back on Debbie's composure on Friday, I so clearly see the Lord's provisions in giving her rest to be able to fully appreciate the moments that were to come. For time with Wade while he is here! For getting to use her gift of hospitality with her daughter! And to celebrate with her best friends for a wedding! For the moments that really mattered.

It's a beautiful thing when we are able to rest in what the Lord has so freely given us, no matter what distractions the enemy is trying to throw at us.

May we do that this week! Be like Debbie was on Friday! Rest in the gift of not having to worry of such temporary things on this earth. That we are able to have full confidence that Jesus is in control. Everything will be okay!

It will all get done!

Quote that has stuck out to me this week: In the words of Father Mike, "All of our lives are marked with pain, but not all of our lives are marked with prayer." Let's be quick to speak our pain and sufferings as a prayer!
